Serving Lavon, TX
Lavon is two towns stacked on each other. Old Town Lavon, along Main Street and the Hwy 78 frontage, sits on big lots with the trees that were there before the rooftops. Post oaks, cedar elms, a few old pecans, and bois d'arc that outlived the fences they once lined. These trees are tough but they aren't maintenance-free. Post oaks here are pushing 60, 80, sometimes 100 years old, and they drop deadwood, develop rot pockets, and need a careful eye from someone who knows native trees.
Then there's the new Lavon: Elevon (a 1,600-acre master plan rising off FM 6 near Hwy 78), LakePointe (roughly 200 acres between Hwy 78 and the lake), Traditions at Grand Heritage, the gated Enclave at Lake Lavon. These were scraped lots six months before the driveways went in. The builder trees (live oaks, cedar elms, Chinese pistaches) are young and were often planted too deep in heavy blackland clay. A root flare buried under four inches of fill will choke a tree slowly. We see the results three to five years later: thin canopies, slow growth, trees that lean because their root systems never developed right.
And Lavon has one weather problem you can't grade your way out of: exposure. The town sits high and open, close to Lake Lavon. Spring storms come across the lake and the prairie with nothing to break them, and new subdivisions of young trees take the worst of it. Broken leaders, uprooted builder trees, limbs across FM 6. We work all of it: Main Street, the FM 6 corridor, LakePointe, Elevon, Grand Heritage, and out toward the lake.

Common Tree Issues in Lavon, TX
🌱 Builder Trees Planted Wrong
The most common service call in new Lavon. Trees go in with the root flare buried, or wrapped in burlap that never gets cut, or ringed by steel wire that girdles the trunk as it grows. In our clay the symptoms show up slow: a tree that looks okay for three years, then the canopy thins and the trunk base looks like a telephone pole going straight into the ground instead of flaring out. Caught early, we can often fix it. Expose the flare, cut the circling roots, reset the grade. Our girdling roots guide walks through the whole process. Caught late, it's a removal.
💨 Lake Wind & Prairie Storms
Lavon's exposure is real. Storms roll across Lake Lavon and the open ground between Lavon and Nevada with full force. Young builder trees snap at the leader or pull out of wet clay entirely. Mature trees on the south side lose big limbs. After a spring storm, the priority jobs are the trees leaning on houses, the hanging limbs over streets, and the fence-line trees that came down across FM 6 and the subdivision streets. That's our line of work.
🌳 Aging Native Post Oaks
The old trees along Main Street and the 78 corridor are mostly post oak: the toughest tree in Collin County and also the most sensitive to disturbance. Post oaks hate grade changes, compaction, and trenching. Half the failing post oaks we assess were damaged by a driveway replacement or a utility trench three years ago and are only now showing it. When a post oak is declining, we give an honest read: prune the deadwood and manage it, or take it down before it becomes a hazard. We don't guess on 100-year-old trees.

Lavon Tree Service FAQs
How much does tree removal cost in Lavon, TX?
It depends on the tree's size, species, and access. Lavon jobs range from straightforward takedowns on open Elevon lots to tricky removals on the older, wooded properties along Hwy 78 with tight clearances. We give free on-site estimates: you get an exact price before any work starts, with no obligation.
Do you offer emergency tree service in Lavon after storms?
Yes. Lavon's position near Lake Lavon and its open prairie exposure mean spring storms hit hard. We clear fallen trees, snapped limbs, and blocked driveways throughout Lavon, including the Elevon and LakePointe communities. Call (469) 545-0844 and we'll respond as quickly as we can.
My builder planted trees too deep in our new Lavon home. Can anything be done?
Sometimes, and the sooner the better. Trees planted with the root flare buried struggle in Lavon's heavy blackland clay. They decline slowly over a few years. If the tree is still young, we can often expose the root flare, cut circling roots, and give it a real shot. If the trunk is already damaged or the tree has girdling roots too far gone, replacement with a properly planted tree is the honest call. Bring us out and we'll tell you which one it is.
