Cleburne is the seat of Johnson County, about 30 miles south of Fort Worth on US 67. The town was laid out in the late 1860s and named for Confederate General Patrick R. Cleburne. The Johnson County Courthouse anchors downtown, and the railroads wrote the town's next chapter: Cleburne was a major Santa Fe locomotive backshop town, and passenger trains still run out of the intermodal depot on the old main line. It is the biggest city in Johnson County and it still carries itself like a county town.

Six miles southwest of town on US 67, Park Road 21 runs into Cleburne State Park: 528 acres of limestone ridges and dense thickets around Cedar Lake, also known as Lake Pat Cleburne. The Civilian Conservation Corps built the park in the 1930s, and the same mix that covers those rocky hills, juniper, oak, elm, walnut, mesquite, redbud, cottonwood, sycamore, and ash, grows all over the town. Closer in, Hulen Park is the city's signature green space, a Lone Star Legacy Park with the Spirit of Cleburne locomotive on display and the Whistle Stop Christmas lights every December. The Buffalo Creek parks carry trails along the east and west creeks, and Lakeshore Park sits on the shore of Lake Pat Cleburne, the municipal reservoir on the Nolan River. West of town on US 67, the Chisholm Trail Outdoor Museum keeps the cattle-drive history on the ground where the trail actually ran.

The tree work in Cleburne splits three ways. On the west side and the limestone country, post oaks and blackjack oaks stand on thin rocky soil, and Ashe juniper is always working to take over. Out in the creek bottoms along the Nolan River and Buffalo Creek, pecans, cedar elms, and hackberries grow big and take the brunt of the spring storms. In the older neighborhoods around downtown, live oaks and red oaks from the middle of the last century are now the full-size shade trees of their blocks. We work all of it: hazard assessments on the old oaks, crown thinning and deadwood cleanup, structural pruning on the young subdivision trees filling the north side, full removals with the stump ground, and acreage cedar work on the lots outside town. Free on-site estimates. Straight talk about what the tree needs and what it does not.

Cleburne Tree Service FAQs

We have post oaks on thin rocky ground and the cedar is closing in. What do you do?

Selective clearing. The juniper and brush go; the healthy post oaks, blackjack oaks, and anything worth keeping stay. A free on-site visit scopes the acreage and we price it straight.

Our lot is by the lake and the wind is rough on the trees. What helps?

Crown thinning and deadwood removal. A thinner, more open crown lets wind pass through instead of grabbing the tree. Trees leaning toward the house or the water deserve an assessment before storm season.

How much does tree removal cost in Cleburne, TX?

Every tree and every site is different, so we do not quote blind. Free on-site estimate: you get the exact price in writing, no obligation, before anything gets cut.
