Lancaster is one of the oldest towns in Dallas County. A. Bledsoe laid out the townsite in 1852, named for Lancaster, Kentucky, and the Historic Town Square at Main and Dallas Avenue still anchors the center of town. Old brick, listed blocks, the kind of square that built the county. The Strain Farm house on Lancaster-Hutchins Road made the National Register. I-35E runs the west edge, I-20 the north, I-45 the east; Pleasant Run, Belt Line, and Houston School roads carry the local grid. Thirty-three square miles, and it is still adding houses.
