Commerce is a college town on the east side of Hunt County. It started in 1872 when William Jernigan and Josiah Jackson built a trading post by a new bridge over the South Sulphur River, and the town took its name from the very business it was built on. It incorporated in 1885, and two years later the St. Louis Southwestern Railway, the Cotton Belt, came through. The school came in 1894: East Texas Normal College moved here from Cooper after its first building burned, and it grew into Texas A&M University–Commerce. About 9,000 people live here now. US 50 runs north-south through town, SH 11 and SH 224 cross east-west, and Greenville sits about fifteen miles to the west.
The tree work in a college town is a mix. The older streets around downtown hold big yard trees from an earlier generation: pecans, oaks, elms. The student-rental neighborhoods turn over fast, so landlords call for clearance and hazard work more than shaping. The newer subdivisions carry builder trees at the age where a little structural pruning goes a long way. East of town toward Campbell and Neylandville it is farm ground again, with creek-bottom pecans and fence-row cedar. Blackland clay sits under all of it, and it moves.
We work Commerce from the campus edges to the farm roads: rental-neighborhood hazard work, deadwood cleanup on the old yard trees, selective clearing on acreage, storm cleanup when spring weather crosses Hunt County, and full removals with the stump ground and the property left clean. Free on-site estimates. Straight talk about what the tree needs and what it does not.

Commerce Tree Service FAQs
A big tree hangs over our rental. Who handles that?
The property owner calls us. Landlords in the campus neighborhoods use us for clearance and hazard work between tenants. The estimate is free and in writing, so you can hand the number straight to the owner.
Our old pecan still produces. Is it worth keeping?
Usually, yes. A producing pecan earns its keep. We clean the crown, take out the deadwood, and check the structure. If the trunk is sound, a good pecan can outlast us all.
