Serving Blue Ridge, TX

Blue Ridge has been here since 1860. First called "Pull 'n Tug," it took the name Blue Ridge when the post office opened, for the ridge north of town that wore a cover of blue flowers. The town rebuilt in 1895 after fire took most of the wooden buildings, and it's been farming country ever since: cotton, corn, dairy, cattle. Hwy 78 still runs straight through town, north to south, and the old farm lots along it carry some of the biggest pecans in eastern Collin County.

That's the tree work here: old trees on old properties. Big pecans in town that shed limbs on roofs and driveways. Post oaks on the ridge north of town that are sensitive to grading and new construction. Old hedge rows of bois d'arc that fenced pasture a hundred years ago have become tree-service jobs. The wood is iron-hard and heavy as stone, and it takes a real crew to bring one down without a mess. This is not subdivision work. It's farm-country tree work, and it takes equipment and judgment.

We work all of Blue Ridge: the Hwy 78 corridor through town, the old downtown, the ridge north of town, and the farm roads in every direction: toward Westminster, Snow Hill, and the old quarry roads.

Common Tree Issues in Blue Ridge, TX

🌰 Old-Town Pecans Dropping Limbs

Blue Ridge's pecans are the big, old kind. Seventy feet tall, limbs like fence posts. They shed deadwood naturally, and when it comes down it lands on roofs, cars, and driveways. A proper crown cleaning takes the hazard out and keeps the tree producing for decades. We check the trunk and root flare first; if the tree is sound, pruning is the call. If it's hollow or heavily damaged, we'll tell you to take it down rather than spend money on a rescue.

🪵 Bois d'Arc Fence Rows

The bois d'arc hedge rows that fenced cattle around Blue Ridge are still standing, and they're the hardest wood we cut. It eats chains and comes down like stone. Cedar elms and hackberries crowd the same rows. If your fence line has turned into a tree line, we cut it back clean, grind what needs grinding, and haul the mess out.

🌳 Post Oaks on the Ridge

The ridge north of town is post oak country, and post oaks hate root disturbance. Grading, trenching, equipment traffic. The tree holds the damage for two or three years, then the canopy thins and the top dies back. If you're building or regrading on the ridge, have the trees assessed before the work starts. Protecting them early beats mourning them later.

Blue Ridge Tree Service FAQs

I have an old pecan that's dropping limbs. Does it have to come down?

Not necessarily. Mature pecans shed deadwood as a matter of course, and a proper crown cleaning can add years to the tree's useful life. Dead, crossing, and weakly attached limbs come out; the tree keeps producing. We look at the trunk, the root flare, and the canopy structure first. If the tree is sound, pruning is the right call. If it's hollow, heavily damaged, or leaning toward the house, we'll tell you to take it down and not waste money on a rescue.

Can you clear the old bois d'arc hedge row along my fence?

Yes. Bois d'arc is the hardest wood we cut, and we come prepared for it. We cut the row back to a clean line, grind stumps where you need the ground back, and haul everything out. It won't be cheap work. Nothing involving bois d'arc is. But we'll give you an exact price before we start.

How much does tree removal cost in Blue Ridge, TX?

It depends on the tree's size, species, and access. An old pecan in town that needs sectional work over a roof is a different job than a straight felling on open land. We give free on-site estimates: you get an exact price before any work starts, with no obligation.
